Spring clean your routine!

Spring is such a beautiful season with the buds out the trees and all the daffodils in bloom! Why is it that houses are more likely to sell and mortgage applications are more likely to be approved when the weather is sunny? This phenomenon is known as “sunny day approval.” Even though April can be rainy, you can harvest your inner sunshine through rest, stress relief and a little pampering. Start with cleaning out those beauty products to minimize those bugs that can make you sick! Do a little inventory and get rid of the extra things floating around. My rule of thumb- if it hasn’t been worn or used in the past month, it is time to part ways. Cleaning the clutter can also clear your mind. Here are some helpful tips for organizing all those products:

֎ Replace toothbrushes every 3 months (with a soft bristled brush). If you don’t remember how long it has been then look at the bristles. If they ae frayed, flattened or worn then it is time for a new one!

֎ Make up brushes should be cleaned weakly, and at the very least, monthly. Bacteria in hese brushes can easily cause acne and breakouts!

֎ Check expiration dates. Sunscreen or lotions with SPF are usually good for a year or too. This is extremely important to check because skin cancer is the most common cancer. The risks go up with sun burns and not protecting skin. Don’t forget those sunglasses either because melanoma of eye is rare, but does occur.

֎ Mascara has only a shelf life of four months. If there’s clumps, dryness or an odor, it is time to toss.

֎ Lipsticks last up to two years and glosses about one (because they contain water). If you have more than a couple floating around at the bottom of your purse it may be time to clear some space

֎ Powder based makeup last longer than water based. Usually these products last about a year, but replace sooner if the applicator was reused with any infection. If there is no clumping or color change, you’re still good to go!

֎ Liquids and cream foundations should be tossed in 6 months, but if in a pump dispenser it should be alright for up to one year. Anything with a tube can be wiped with an alcohol pad or used with q-tips or applicators to minimize the bacteria from fingers from cross-infecting cosmetics.

Have a blessed day 😁
