We humans have an innate desire to look our best. If the eyes are looked upon as the windows to the soul, then a smile must be the doorway to the heart. A few ladies this month have expressed a dislike for their puffy eyes, crows feet or dark circles underneath their eyes. These can make aspersion look more aged then they really are. Luckily, there are a few simple tricks to brighten those peepers in no time.
- Smoking cessation- To avoid premature wrinkles, impaired blood circulation and more than 4,000 chemicals which damage collagen and elastin (which give skin strength & elasticity), it is important to kick the smoking habit.
- Getting a good 7 hours of sleep a night- This will help reduce those dark bags under the eyes. One recipe for a wonderful rest: cherries for a snack (loaded with melatonin), sleep mask, socks to improve circulation, good book and keep the phone outside of the bedroom.
- Drinking water throughout the day- This flushes the toxins from the body and keeps the cells healthy and prevent them from shriveling up..
- Cool it down- Frozen face masks or cold cucumbers can also alleviate the puffiness around the eyes by stopping leaky capillaries and fluids from pooling around the eyes
- Consider Botox- General dentists and Dermatologists with Botox training may be able to alleviate crow’s feet which are caused by repeats muscle movements. By temporarily paralyzing these muscles you will see more smoothness.
- Prop your head up on pillows- Depuff your eyes by preventing the pooling of fluids under the eyes. Salty diets will also make you retain more fluids in unwanted places
- Eat a collagen-promoting diet– Every time we speak or smile, the collagen fibers break down. Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries are an awesome low calorie snack which contain antioxidants and boost collagen production!
- Maintain a well-oiled machine- With the lack of oil glands in the area around the eyes, the skin looks older and drier. Moisturize first with a hydrating eye cream (containing humectants and retinol) daily before apply foundation and powder which further dry out this tissue. Massage creams into eyes as gently as possible with your ring finger so you do not damage the delicate collagen fibers.
The summer is flying by, and August will be a good time to take it slow and make some “me” time. Life is to short to not do what makes you happy and healthy! Take care 😁
